I must confess, I’m a YouTube fanatic.

I study and practice makeup techniques from different YouTube channels, and when my boyfriend asked me what I wanted for my birthday recently I quickly replied, makeup brushes!

I have limited knowledge the makeup tools needed to achieve a professional look, so I reached out to a sales rep at Sephora. She asked me my price range (not too cheap but not too expensive) and quickly shuffled me over to the Sephora I.T. brand of brushes…

I’ve never had real problems with my hair…unless it was a product of my own doing (i.e. – bleaching it blonde or using too much heat).

However, about eight months ago my hair was lackluster, breaking and constantly tangled. I had no idea what was going on, and was feeling somewhat down because of it. You know how it is, if your hair is not looking right you’re not feeling right. My mom, also known as my “go to gal,” told me it was from stress and tried to remedy the problem with protein conditioners and L-lysine vitamins. I even decided to grow out my relaxer.

No luck.

In March I splurged to get a haircut at one of those fancy salons and my stylist suggested hair vitamins…

OK, I admit that it actually is in a ponytail right now, but not for the usual reasons. I normally wear it back because my hair has a slight natural wave and a tendency to frizziness that team up to render it perpetually agitated, never smooth like the calm locks that so many other women seem to have. But for the past month my hair seems to have been trying out what it might be like to walk on the calm side…

Guest Beauty: Dimples, Be Gone!

Remember those long panoramic shots of the desert in The English Patient?

The rolling smoothness of the dunes is dimpled by snakelike ripples that have been carved into the sand by the wind. Well, that’s what my thighs have looked like since I had a baby last year.

About three weeks ago I started using the Body Firming Serum ($34) from Belli Motherhood Products, and I have to say that my desert-dimples have, I think, smoothed out a bit…

Guest Beauty: Naturally Happy Skin

noahby Marian Tascio

It didn’t take me long—maybe a week or so—to decide that I really liked what Noah’s Naturals was doing for my skin.

I had started using the Milk Cleanser ($7.99) at night and the Facial Starter Kit ($8.99 for anti-aging gel cleanser, anti-oxidant gel serum, and 1 oz. of all day moisture) in the morning, plus the Rosemary Mint Lip Balm ($3.99) whenever the mood struck me (which was often). I noticed pretty quickly that my pores actually looked smaller—every beauty product promises that effect, but I’d never noticed it happening before—and my face looked softer and smoother…
