Commercials have the biggest effect on consumers and their buying habits.

Advertisements, however, aren’t all that honest and you rarely end up with the picture perfect burger or bouncy hair that you saw on TV.

Commercials that really get under my skin are mascara commercials. . .

I recently had a conversation with a friend of mine about age brackets and how they have evolved over the years.

It seems that 40’s are the new 30’s and 30’s are the new 20’s. Who even knows anymore?! I told my friend that all I needed in my life was my eye cream and I’m good to go.

I’ve been using eye cream since my mid-twenties. . .

Remember when I shared my Top 5 Fragrances?

Well, they’ve changed (of course) but I thought it would be fun to share which 5 lippies have tickled my fancy lately. . .

I might be a little late with this one, especially since I think this lipstick has been around for years. However, I’m new to purchasing higher end lipsticks, so cut me some slack!

My “vanity” is not really a vanity at all. It’s a window ledge where I do my makeup. It’s also where most of the natural light comes into our apartment.

One day I will move into my loft apartment with floor to ceiling windows and tons of natural light. . .but that’s another story!

When the sun is shining, my makeshift vanity area and small mirror are good enough for me. But, when it’s cloudy or dark, applying makeup can be a complete pain. I can barely see a thing!

Winter and I go together like oil and water, we just don’t mesh well.

I get the super sads when cold weather approaches and all I do is long for spring. Not only do the winter months make me depressed but it also does the unthinkable; it turns my sexy, dark tan into a pale and sickly hue of blah.

Enter Murad Bronzing Boost with SPF 15 ($38), an oil free bronzing formula that instantly brightens and darkens (and oxymoron I know :-) ) your skin into sun goddess status. You might not have control of the seasons but you can still have your bronze-y sun kissed skin.

Absolute Bronzing Boost boasts that it can be layered so you can control how sun-kissed you want your face to be. When I first wore this product I swear I got a few head turns at work and I must say myself the glowy dew Bronzing Boost creates on my face suits me better than pasty pale skin.

I applied it with my fingers and it blends incredibly well.  For you beauties who are already nostalgic for warmer weather don’t fret because this bottle of bronzer will help you hold on to summer skin all year long. Absolute Bronzing Boost is available at Sephora or murad.com.

The first time I used Sonia Kashuk’s Large Powder Brush was at Ugochi’s house while getting ready for an event and it’s been on my wish list ever since.

I finally came around to purchasing it the other day and I was glad I did because I was lacking a proper powder brush. Quality brushes can make all the difference with makeup application and this one never seems to fail.

This large powder brush is super soft, picks up product perfectly and applies powder to you face with ease. The sleek and ergonomic design fits your hand which also helps with application.

This brush looks professional and stands up to any other pro brushes you may have in your collection. The price isn’t bad either ($19.99) considering other companies sell makeup brushes that retail for way more.

Sonia Kashuk products are sold at one of my favorite stores, Target! While you’re there check out other products from her line — I know I will.

What’s your fave Sonia Kashuk product?

So, this is still one of my proudest moments of the year. Almost 6 months later, I am STILL happily organized in all of my makeup pursuits. Check out this vintage post to read more about how I got there…

Howdy, Beauty Pies!

Today I have a special treat! Because you guys are so awesome, I’m going to give you a peek at my makeup organization skills.

Um, right.

Now, this may look like a disaster to you (and it pretty much is) but I know where everything is (sort of). I just never seem to have the time (or motivation) to get it all sorted out…

Avon holds a special place in my heart.

It’s mainly because I was an Avon representative when I was 16. It was a lucrative career for someone that age and I even had loyal customers…
