Happy Monday, Beauty Pies!
Whilst attempting to troubleshoot my WordPress blog template this weekend and oscillating between anger and despair, I did not follow my own advice – ahem – discovered this fantastic video on YouTube!
[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBejDUFOBxw]
This clip is by the Curly Girl Collective and it’s a video montage of the Collective Expressions Launch Event that was held not too long ago in NYC. Here’s the official blurb from CGC:
“The official video recap from Collective Expressions – A Celebration of Textured Beauty, held at Brian Farrell’s Art Studio at Chelsea Modern in NYC. The event was sponsored by hair care icon Miss Jessie’s, in partnership with HEART & SOUL MAGAZINE and Hypnotiq Harmonie, with 100% of the event proceeds going to our charity partner, Petals-N-Belles.“
This looks to have been a very chic (and fun!) event celebrating the beauty of our hair in it’s natural state. Did any of you Beauties get a chance to attend? If so, let us know in the comments!

Dear Beauty 365,
Once and for all, should I or shouldn’t I pop my zits?!
Ready To Pop
New Brunswick, NJ
Dear Ready To Pop,
Funny you ask that.
I’ve got a couple “situations” going on near my left cheek and I was recently wondering the same thing! I confess to having popped more than one zit in my day, but I do my best to avoid it. The single solution that has worked best for me has 3 important steps:
1. Keep hands off offending zit.
2. Dab toner containing salicylic acid on offending zit after washing face.
3. Keep hands OFF offending zit (really – this part is important!)
Simple, right? But, this method can take a while. And, sometimes, it can be hard to follow steps 1 and 3 after waiting a several long days while the offending zit dies its slow death. Can you believe that some people even get a teeny bit of satisfaction from popping a zit?! Uh, yeah, me neither…
Moving right along.
I thought it prudent to seek medical advice regarding this urgent skin care situation. So, I pulled out my trusty copy of the venerable Dr. Oz’s book and read up on how to lance a pimple.

Hi Beauties,
Happy Monday!
I was wandering around on the world of YouTube and saw that the good folks at Ouidad have added a vid specifically for super curly natural hair (like mine!). It’s only a couple minutes long, so check it out!

I quite like the finished product, but I wonder how long it would hold up…
Thoughts?

Howdy Beauties,
I’m back!
And, I have a major hair crush.
Check out MsTanish1’s lovely mane in this video clip, which incidentally has nothing to do with hair. I soooo admire the full, fluffy volume she’s got going on and I totally heart the side puff style she’s got it in.

You can check out her YouTube page here and peruse her informative library of hair tutorial vids.
As for me, I’ve got tons of life updates and, of course, fun stuff planned for the blog. So, be sure to stay tuned…
xo,
Ugochi

Hi Beauties!
I’m back
This little blog has a birthday later this month, so I figured what better time to get back to giving you the scoop in beauty and wellness. I’ve got tons to share about my summer travels to South Africa, my adventures in skin and hair supplements and lots of fabness from our latest Guest Beauty, Stephanee.
But, this video (via CNN.com) is a quick peek in the weave/wig/weave-on/you-name-it industry in Nigeria. You can get just about anything done to your hair for super cheap. It always amazes me every time I go to see how unpopular natural hair is…Ah well.
LOL @ the “weave count” in the middle of the market at 0:59.
Enjoy and let me know your thoughts!

What a great vid!
Trolling around on YouTube has unearthed some hair inspiration courtesy of GiaMoOnX.
I was fiddling around with my hair today and might give this look a try in the AM since I am in between appointments. So cute and so quick!
The clip is in high speed, too — sweet!
Check it out!

Hi dolls!
In an effort to up my exploration of this big bad city, one of my summer goals is to check out what the non-Manhattan boroughs have to offer.
It’s slow going, but…I did end up in Brooklyn this weekend with my favorite Ethiopian for delightfully fun and random summer night. We started with an outdoor concert in Fort Greene Park, which I was late for since I was busy running around my apartment cheering for Ghana in their World Cup match vs. USA (Go Black Stars and their super-fine Midfielder KP Boateng!)
Anyhoo, Common performed at the concert (such a cutie and so talented!) then we headed to 67 Burger (double yum!), Habana Outpost and a random house party.
I won’t mention when we finally got home , but as expected, there were lots of jokes, a few cuties and plenty of interesting characters along the way . But, one thing I noticed throughout this adventure were all the lovely natural hairstyles parading around in the park and all through the night. There were so many beautiful sets of locs, I was really considering maybe sort of giving them a shot…
We’ll see how that goes, but for now check out this video from YouTube darling, Fauryn78, on her loc journey, in pictures.
Tres inspirational and informative! Here goes…
