Hello Beauties!

Just a quick post to say hello (or shall I say “How far?;-) ) from Nigeria.

I’m on holiday (finally!) and have been hanging out with the family and following the Occupy Nigeria Movement (national strike and fuel subsidy removal protests).

Of course, I’ve been working on getting the beauty scoop for you guys as well — Naija Beauty post to come!

And, as you remember Weaves are Big Business in Nigeria

I quite loved this edition of Celebrity Beauties! Just had to re-post

Yes oh!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…

Like any good Nigerian, I’ve seen countless Nollywood (Nigeria’s mega movie industry) movies. Despite certain –ahem– cinematic setbacks, they’re quite addictive. Plus, they’re so cheap! You can learn more about the story behind the world’s third largest movie industry here.

Anyhoo, being the beauty nut that I am, I thought it would be a neat idea to do a post on the Top 10 Nollywood Babes. So, I took a (very informal!) survey and here are the results! Hailing from Nigeria and Ghana and in no particular order…

Hi Beauties!

I’m back :)

This little blog has a birthday later this month, so I figured what better time to get back to giving you the scoop in beauty and wellness. I’ve got tons to share about my summer travels to South Africa, my adventures in skin and hair supplements and lots of fabness from our latest Guest Beauty, Stephanee.

But, this video (via CNN.com) is a quick peek in the weave/wig/weave-on/you-name-it industry in Nigeria. You can get just about anything done to your hair for super cheap. It always amazes me every time I go to see how unpopular natural hair is…Ah well.

LOL @ the “weave count” in the middle of the market at 0:59.

Enjoy and let me know your thoughts!

Nigeria, stand up!

Remember this post about Nollywood Beauty Stephanie Okereke? Well, my other fav Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji, has just landed a new ad campaign with Make-Up Designory (MUD).

MUD is a leading make-up school with locations in LA and NY and Genevieve is the only Nigerian actress to ever be profiled on Oprah.

It’s always a pleasure to see fellow Nigerians doing well. Congrats, Genevieve!

For more info about MUD products or make-up courses visit MudShop.com or MakeupSchool.com.
