Commercials have the biggest effect on consumers and their buying habits.

Advertisements, however, aren’t all that honest and you rarely end up with the picture perfect burger or bouncy hair that you saw on TV.

Commercials that really get under my skin are mascara commercials. . .

I recently had a conversation with a friend of mine about age brackets and how they have evolved over the years.

It seems that 40’s are the new 30’s and 30’s are the new 20’s. Who even knows anymore?! I told my friend that all I needed in my life was my eye cream and I’m good to go.

I’ve been using eye cream since my mid-twenties. . .

My “vanity” is not really a vanity at all. It’s a window ledge where I do my makeup. It’s also where most of the natural light comes into our apartment.

One day I will move into my loft apartment with floor to ceiling windows and tons of natural light. . .but that’s another story!

When the sun is shining, my makeshift vanity area and small mirror are good enough for me. But, when it’s cloudy or dark, applying makeup can be a complete pain. I can barely see a thing!

Avon holds a special place in my heart.

It’s mainly because I was an Avon representative when I was 16. It was a lucrative career for someone that age and I even had loyal customers…

In case you’ve forgotten, I’m a mascara nut.

I just love the way it opens up the eye and brings my lashes to life. I’ve definitely tried many, many mascaras, but Givenchy Phenomen’ Eyes ($30) is in a class by itself. If you are looking for lash drama, you pretty much need this mascara.

The pièce de résistance is the patented spherical wand, which – I admit—resembles a medieval weapon of sorts. It took a couple tries for me to get the hang of it, but once I did, I was unstoppable! The wand is quite helpful for getting into the nooks, crannies and corners of every eye shape.

No smudgies, no flakies, just length, volume, separation and – of course – drama! Genius.

What goes around comes around, when it comes to make up trends that is.

I might be a little late to join the blue mascara band wagon the second time around, but better late than never, right?! Since summer is finally here, it’s the perfect time to experiment with fun colors. However, the old blue hue I had in my makeup stash just wasn’t working out so we had to part ways.

Sooo…I ditched that zero and moved on to a pretty little number by Kat Von D’s make up collection – the High Frequency Mascara in the Techno shade of blue.

My first time with this mascara was love at first swipe! Not only is the color electric and vibrant, but the wand separates and lifts. This color looks gorgeous and my lashes literally look like they are on cloud nine. :)

Techno, you might end up being more than just a summer fling…

Howdy Beauties,

Not too long ago, I had the fab opportunity to check out the spring products that Rimmel London brought across the pond for us to enjoy. At the event, we not only got to check out the products, but we got to meet the Rimmel 10, a bunch of unique, stylish and everyday chicas that Rimmel selected as part of their new marketing campaign.

These ten ladies were given the (fun!) task of bringing the London Look of Rimmel Cosmetics to the US. Each of the ten were assigned a product, given oodles of makeup (to share with friends, of course) and given all kinds of fun makeup challenges, like going a day without makeup to get a fresh perspective on their relationships to cosmetics.

From glosses to nail polish to blush, this stuff is mega-budget friendly. Everything retails for under $8 (and many under $5), so you can definitely achieve a great look for cheap. My favorite product is the fantastically bold Glam’Eyes Mono Eye Shadow ($3.49) the pigment and texture of this product is really outstanding especially given the price tag. I’m in love with the bold Posh Peacock shade (pictured) and I’ve been using it to add pop to the outer edges of my standard issue jet-black winged eye liner look. Also, the Spicy Bronze shade is a nice punchy bronze that works really well as part of my daytime look.

Have you gotten the London Look yet?
