by Stephanee, for Beauty 365

The first time I was introduced to clipless curling irons was at an event where I got my hair done in Taylor Swift-style spirals.

I wanted to be able to recreate those beautiful curls at home and Misikko was kind enough to send me their version of the clipless curling iron, the Corioliss Wand Ceramic Curling Iron ($99).

When I opened up the box, the first thing I saw was the heat protectant pouch wrapped in a pink and white polka dot bow –such cute presentation!

At first glance, the iron itself to me…looked like…

Hi Beauty Pies!

Noticed anything awesome in your local CVS?

Well, we’ve got the inside scoop on a hot new collection of hairstyling tools from the good folks at Conair.

Resulting from a collaboration between Conair and John Frieda, these new styling tools offer salon quality but at a reasonable price…

You all know how much I heart Ouidad.

Really and truly, she makes THE BEST deep conditioner EVER. I love it so much, I wrote a review about it and the good folks at Ouidad.com even featured it on their site –go me! Although, the name of the conditioner has since changed a bit, everything else has pretty much remained the same.

Obviously, I was really excited to try this Curl Pioneer’s latest innovation, the Double Detangler, ($24) along with my beloved Deep Treatment. This tool is essentially a weighted, two-pronged comb designed to replicate the “Rake and Shake” styling technique used in Ouidad salons. The first comb is meant to begin detangling, while the second is meant to finish and prep hair to be washed, conditioned, cut or styled…

Guest Beauty: Brush Lovin’

by Marian Tascio

I’ve really been liking my hair lately.

It’s generally a fairly nondescript mass pulled back in a ponytail with barettes holding down the wisps on the sides. OK, I admit that it actually is in a ponytail right now, but not for the usual reasons. I normally wear it back because my hair has a slight natural wave and a tendency to frizziness that team up to render it perpetually agitated, never smooth like the calm locks that so many other women seem to have. But for the past month my hair seems to have been trying out what it might be like to walk on the calm side…

I was half surprised, half not when I saw this video. Sadly, it didn’t surprise me that the black hair industry is dominated by non-blacks. It’s the extent of the domination that really got me. As one YouTube-r so eloquently put it:

“No one is saying it is the Koreans fault. It is our fault for letting them set up in our neighborhoods and patronizing their businesses. Try setting up a Korean food restaurant owned by African-Americans in a Korean part of town and see how long it stays in business. It will be out of business by lunchtime.”

Check the clip out – it’s about 10 minutes…

And, of course, let me know what you guys think?

Stay Beautiful

Ok, so, I lost my normal-sized hair pick at some point in the past.

It was one of those big cool ones with a fist on the handle and everything, too.

:(

Sooo…

I’m baaaaaaack…

:-P
