Line Me Up

loreal kohlA for effort, L’Oreal!

Or, should that be an E?

Grad school is frying my brain, I swear, but that’s another series of posts altogether…

Anyhoo –L’Oreal’s fantastic HIP (High Intensity Pigments) line always does a great job of making department store-style cosmetics available at drugstore prices… The color payoff is always really nice, too, so no faded disappointments, here!

HIP’s Kohl Eyeliner ($10) made for lots of a smudgy, smoky goodness, but it didn’t come easy. I almost lost an eye.

You see, these eyeliners are the old school loose powder sort. Which means there is a plastic stick that you pull out of the bottle and cleverly maneuver sort of like a pencil, but not really. Also, there is a big potential for spillage, since the liner is loose, of course.

I’m not the most coordinated human being and I had a rough time the first few tries. I eventually gave up and used one of my eyeliner brushes to do the blending.

If you like playing around with makeup in general, this is definitely worth picking up when it goes on sale, just for the heck of it! Otherwise, stick to more stable forms of eyeliner.

Stay Beautiful

I love to play around with makeup and I am passionate about the “old school way”>> it stays in place longer and you just fold a kleenex and place it under your eye and apply>>try that, I hope it helps

I use HIP’s cream eyeliner, picked it up over thanksgiving break. Took me about two days to get the line right because this stuff is extremely creamy and can smudge really easily when your first apply it but once it’s set it is there to stay until you use some make up remover to remove it. I usually don’t use make up remover, usually just wash my face because I use mineral make up that a friend of mine hand makes but with this stuff I had to invest in the remover. If you’re pretty steady with a liner brush you might want to check out the cream eyeliner that HIP makes.
