Guest Beauty: Naturally Happy Skin

noahby Marian Tascio

It didn’t take me long—maybe a week or so—to decide that I really liked what Noah’s Naturals was doing for my skin.

I had started using the Milk Cleanser ($7.99) at night and the Facial Starter Kit ($8.99 for anti-aging gel cleanser, anti-oxidant gel serum, and 1 oz. of all day moisture) in the morning, plus the Rosemary Mint Lip Balm ($3.99) whenever the mood struck me (which was often). I noticed pretty quickly that my pores actually looked smaller—every beauty product promises that effect, but I’d never noticed it happening before—and my face looked softer and smoother…

As for the lip balm, I am a fan. It goes on nice and thick; you really feel like you’re slathering on some good yummy hydration for your lips. I didn’t even feel the need to use it as often as I normally use lip balm, which is a plus. Lip-balm addiction is irritating and expensive, so anything that gives me a little relief from the distracting compulsion to reapply gets a big thumbs-up in my book.

Now for warning number one. The Milk Cleanser—as deliciously…well, milky as it feels to put on, as light and lovely as it smells, and as thoroughly gentle as it is on my skin—probably moisturizes just a bit too well for this acne-prone Italian girl. I imagine that for someone with normal or dry skin, this milk cleanser could be perfection, but for us ladies of the oily faces: Caveat emptor.

Moving on to warning number two. When you use the Anti-Oxidant Gel Serum, you have to follow the label’s instructions to let it dry completely before you add anything else to your skin. I made the mistake of ignoring this tidbit—and paid the price, which turned out to be hours of shiny, slimy-feeling skin. Once I realized I had to play by the rules, I developed a routine and I lived happily ever after.

I have no warning to issue about the lip balm. I love it. It tastes woody and botanical (so satisfying to those of us who have outgrown the balms that taste like Froot Loops but are not desperate enough to wear the ones that taste like Elmer’s glue sticks), and I’ve already sung its praises in the function department. So, fellow balm junkies, have a ball!
