If you’re a beauty nut like we are, those three words just got you inappropriately excited. It’s ok, the excitement is worth it – and surprisingly affordable – at Three Custom Color Specialists…
During the whirlwind that is Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week, contributor extraordinaire A-Fad and I had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Three Custom Color Specialists Color Studio in Chelsea and meet with co-founder Trae Bodge to discuss the brand.
We not only had an amazing time, but we got some terrific makeup tips as well!
Three Custom’s specialty is custom blending just about any cosmetic in just about every color imaginable. It’s no big secret that most cosmetics are chemically the same, with small variations here and there. The artists at Three Custom Color take wonderful advantage of that fact to create any color that your little heart might desire.
That discontinued eye shadow that you just cant fall out of love with? No problem. The absolutely perfect ruby red lipstick? They’ve got you covered. And, they would be remiss to not feature what to many of us is the holy grail of beauty products (especially for you really fair or deep toned Beauties) custom blended foundation. The fun part is that they mix it up right in front of you and won’t quit until you’ve gotten a perfect match. If you can’t make it in for a consultation, you can send in a color sample to be matched or pick a color from their archive of discontinued shades.
Also, there are hundreds of pre-mixed colors for sale in their Ready-To-Wear Collection.
Visiting the Color Studio is an experience in and of itself. The Color Studio is an intimate space with a clean and modern aesthetic. Very chic, indeed. There are several fun makeup options that you can take should you decide to treat yourself to a visit. You can get a makeup tutorial using the Ready-To-Wear Collection, Bridal Trial makeup, or a One-On-One Consultation that includes custom blending with a Color Specialist or with one of the founders. We think you should splurge and get a consultation with Trae, she’s fantastic and uber-talented.
Whether you’re a single gal just looking to spice up your makeup routine and pamper yourself at the same time or a bridal party figuring out the makeup for the big day, the personal attention you receive at Three Custom Color is amazing. And the products are top notch.
And, yes, we were wondering about how much this all costs, too.
Don’t fret, it’s reasonable. A compact of custom blended powder foundation or crème concealer is $36.50.
