Dearest Beauty Pies,
Yours truly has been temporarily decommissioned by a terrible flu/cold/crappy/illness.
Ugh.
To the point of calling in sick today, which virtually never happens…
One of my many symptoms are some wicked chest congestion and a pesky cough, so when I groggily stumbled into Rite Aid a couple days ago in search of a cure and saw the little Buckley’s Chest Congestion bottle, I swear it started glinting and gleaming right there on that shelf!
Or, maybe I was just feverish and mildly hallucinating…
Either way, I’d been hearing of this Buckley’s stuff for a while now. The general consensus is that it tastes like the depths of hell, but works extremely well
In fact, it’s supposed to taste so bad that the good folks at Buckley’s are running a contest rewarding the most screwed up faces that customers make right after gulping down some of this syrup. Ha!
Ok, well, if this doesn’t immediately cause you to shamelessly contort your face (and upper body for emphasis!) then kudos to you! I even have to jump up and down a couple times to fully process it. This stuff tastes GROSS! Annnnd, it smells like a hot minty disaster!
BUT…
I have to agree that it works!
My chest felt much less congested soon after I gulped some down and my stuffy nose cleared right on out. This cold remedy is really pared down to only include the stuff that you need to fight your symptoms – sans all the sweeteners, alcohol, colors and other junk that’s in a lot of cold medicine.
It’s a recipe that’s been around since 1919 and contains camphor, pine needle oil and methol among other things. Ick. I guess if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
And if you must get sick, do yourself a favor and pick up some Buckley’s asap!
You’ll get over the cruddy taste once you start feeling better
Stay Beautiful (and Healthy!)

That is the BEST cold medicine in the world. Hope you feel better soon. You might also want to try SudaCare Shower Soothers. It will really open you up and refresh you when you eventually have to go back to work. Either Puffs or Kleenex now makes a tissue with Vicks on it and they are amazing!
Thanks for the well wishes! I’m getting there slowly but surely!
i’ll have to look into the ShowerSoothers and those tissues – both sound great!
good to know! thanks for posting!
no prob!
