Shame on you, L’Oreal!
Not that this comes as a huuuuuge surprise, but after a consumer complained to the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority, L’Oreal was pressured to admit that it’s spokeswoman, Penelope Cruz was wearing fake eyelashes in the adverts for L’Oreal’s new Telescopic Mascara…
If it’s any consolation, L’Oreal has been ordered to pull the ads and make it clear when false lashes are being used in ads going forward.
It’s kinda sad to think that ads are misleading us and fabricating the truth, but I guess that’s what it takes to get ahead. Just think of all the airbrushing and retouching and other enhancements that are an integral part of today’s visual media.
Being the mascara nut that I am, I will probably still try this mascara out at some point. But, knowing that the lashes were fake kind of cheapens the effect for me…
Beauties, what are your thoughts on this?
