So many cosmetics, so little time!
Yeah, so…I was looking through my makeup collection the other day and I found some pretty archaic stuff lurking in there. I’m kind of embarrassed, but some of my shadows are three and six years old – eeps!
Needless to say, it’s a really good idea to keep tabs of your cosmetics and get rid of the older ones that you may or may not still use… They can be a breeding ground for bacteria and they are really only designed to last for a certain fixed period of time.
I recently caught a repeat of the Tyra Show where there was a really informative segment keeping your makeup tools fresh (check out my Beauty Tidbit on the same subject). There was also some good advice on the shelf life of common cosmetics:
Mascara: 3-6 months
Concealer: 18 months.
Liquid Foundation: 1 year
Loose Powder: Can last for years
Eye Shadow (crème): 12-18 months
Eye Shadow (powder): 2 years
Lip Pencil: 3 years
Lipstick: 2-3 years
Lip Gloss: 18 months
Check out TyraShow.com for more details!
And, get to cleaning!
