High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil by Shu Uemura

What? No suds?

I was more than a little skeptical when I heard about Shu Uemura’s cleansing oils on an episode of The Tyra Banks show. Not only did Tyra temporarily lose her mind for about three minutes, but the thought of using an oil to clean my face was just plain weird.

Tyra used a different and heartier cleansing oil than the one I have, but the basic premise is the same. Cleansing oils are touted for effectively clearing all skin types of all makeup without the drying effects that come with many foaming cleansers. In fact, I had a Christian Dior makeover today (foundation and all) and with this cleanser every thing came right off…

At the end of the day, I really like Shu Uemura’s High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil. It’s actually kind of cool and I marvel every time I wash my face.

I will admit that this cleanser took me a while to get used to. I’m so used to squirting cleanser in my palm, mixing it with water and then going for the gold. Not so with this oil! You’re to apply this Cleansing Oil directly to your (dry) face with dry hands and then add water if you so desire. After you rinse, your skin will be clean, supple and fabulous! :)

This blend of oils is actually very light, so it’s not like you are rubbing cooking grease into your face or anything crazy like that. It contains a blend of 6 oils and some fancy sea water to boot! HPBC Oil (that name is too long to keep typing!) also contains our wonderful antioxidant friend, vitamin E.

Shu Uemura’s HPBC Oil is a really pale yellow and smells of mostly of the rosemary leaf extract that it contains. It’s such a relief to not have a tight, dried out face like I do with most foaming cleansers. No longer do I have to frantically rush to apply moisturizer! Yesss!

At $28 for 150 ml, this product isn’t exactly cheap. However, it does last a good while, and you really only need one pump to get everything off, two if you’re feeling adventurous ;)
