This stuff smells realllly good, which is always a plus in my book.
It definitely appeals to my love for all scents spicy and kicky. However, as an aid for two strand twisting my naturally (very) curly hair, I found that there was much left to be desired from Loc Butter by Carol’s Daughter…
Loc Butter provides very little hold, which is something I crave for my two strand twists. In essence, this product is a really light hair grease with a lot of essential oils contained within. In terms of consistency, it emulsifies almost instantly when you work it in your hands for a bit.
When I’ve twisted my dry hair with just Loc Butter, my twists were kind of flimsy and shapeless. They also started to get fuzzy and shabby in a few days, which was no good either. Nonetheless, my hair was incredibly soft, moisturized and smelled great. I’ve never tried two strand twists when using this product on my damp hair. Perhaps that will make a difference…
For me, two strand twists need to be done with a product that provides a decent bit of hold, so that the style lasts more than a little bit. However, if you prefer a lighter hold, this might be just what you’re looking for.
Lately, I’ve just been using Loc Butter as a light hair and scalp moisturizer and it works great in this capacity. This product is a mostly opaque yellow in color and about $16 for the 8 oz size.
