Ode to a Fallen Hero: Smoothing Shower Scrub by Bath & Body Works

It was a tragic day back in mid-2003 when I found out that one of my all time favorite products in the world had been discontinued.

Smoothing Shower Scrub by Bath & Body Works came in a bunch of scents, but Warm Vanilla Sugar was my personal favorite. I would use it after shaving to get extra silky, smooth and touchable legs.

This scrub formed a nice lather and the little exfoliation nuggets (actually strawberry seeds and different types of sugars) were the best body exfoliant I had ever come across. To top it off, this stuff was pretty cheap — $8 for 6 fl oz.

I could surely write pages and pages about how great this scrub was. Everyone I know who tried it loved it just as much as I did, and we all know how much I love a good exfoliation session…

Sadly, nothing I’ve tried since has ever quite lived up to this wonderful product.

Naturally, I panicked when I went to replenish my supply at my local Bath & Body Works and didn’t see any on the shelves.

That’s when things started to go downhill.

I searched all the local Bath & Body Works stores to no avail. I was then told that I could order it direct from the company, since it was no longer in stores. At another store an employee told me that the packaging had simply changed. I refused to believe any of this and I also proceeded to buy (and return) every body scrub in the entire store.

Filing complaints thru PlanetFeedback.com yielded very little return. I got a canned response from some customer service drone explaining that products get phased in and out all the time as part of their business. He also invited me to try their new products.

Not. Good. Enough.

Now, I’m forced to scrounge ebay and in-store semi-annual sales to see if any (usually overpriced) bottles are still out there. But, there’s always that impending doom that I will never be able to find it someday…

I’m still heartbroken.

On that note, maybe I’ll write another letter asking for the product to be reinstated!

And, thank goodness I got some for X-mas (thanks, Uzo)!

Good luck searching for this stuff on eBay.com. . .
If you’d like to contact this (or any) company regarding just about anything PlanetFeedback.com really helps to streamline the process!

This was the ISH – no but really though I tried this at the insistence of my college housemate and was more than happy w/ the results – in fact I would secretly steal some of my housemate’s supply – must say I was sad to see it go myself

I was so sad to see this one go. My friends made fun of me for stocking up but I’m glad I did. I don’t know what I’ll do when I run out. :(
