First of all, let me say I purchased these tampons as a necessity.
Last week, I found myself unexpectedly in need of some feminine protection. I’d just bought a box of my fav tampons the day before, but had forgotten to bring any with me when I left for work that morning
After encountering two broken tampon/maxi pad vending machines, I ran to Duane Reade. O.B. Tampons looked like the cheapest tampons there, so I grabbed a box. In the very least, I knew I would get a decent blog entry out of this…
Enough with the excuses, right?
Well, in support of this product, O.B. Tampons are reeeeaaaallly tiny and super-portable. If you are looking for a discreet tampon, this is a product worth looking at. These itty bitty tampons are 2 inches (5 cm) long and will easily fit in the palm of any child, let alone adult.
O.B. Tampons do not come with an applicator like most tampons do, just a thin cellophane wrapper. This makes them more environmentally friendly than traditional tampons. Also, these tampons ended up working just fine.
Um…now to the not-so-great parts…
These tampons are reeeeaalllly up close and personal. The string is coiled up at the base, so after you remove the cellophane wrapper, you’re supposed to unravel it and pull. Then (here’s where I began to struggle) you’re to widen the base by wedging your finger in, then go for the gold!
You kind of have to work to get your finger wedged in there and once you do, you really have to work to get the tampon up where it belongs. Since there is no applicator, it doesn’t glide as smoothly as I am used to. Frankly, all that extra tampon-wrangling became exhausting after a while.
I don’t know about you, but I kind of like the “distance” that an applicator provides. I just find them much more convenient. I’ll probably throw these tampons in my gym bag to use in case of emergency, but I don’t see myself buying them again.
