Oil-Free Sunblock: SPF 30 by Murad

I’m really obsessed with sunblock.

Really.

In fact, I refuse to go outside with at least SPF 30 on my face (and so should you!)

In my never-ending quest to look young forever, or at least as long as possible, I incorporated sunblock into my daily skincare routine several years ago… Since then, I’ve (of course) tried oh-so-many different products marketed specifically for the face.

My latest and favorite sun protection discovery to date is the truly wonderful Oil-Free Sunblock: SPF 30 by skin care guru, Murad.

I’ve found that some sunblocks have left my brown skin looking “ghoul-ish” and grey, while others leave my face looking like I am covered in cooking oil. It seems that the active ingredients that do the sun blocking are the ones that cause this greasy effect.

Murad’s formula is specifically oil-free and mattifying and it does a really great job at achieving this. The light-to-medium textured crème is virtually weightless and blends into my skin perfectly.

The other gem you’ll find in this product is the yummy, anti-aging and skin renewing antioxidant, pomegranate. This ingredient has the additional benefit of increasing the efficacy of the SPF-related components contained in modern sunscreens, and is used in many of Murad’s products.

This sunblock is a solid white in color and has a faint, but interesting scent. Rest assured, Murad’s Oil-Free Sunblock isn’t plagued by that chemical-y “sunblock smell” that most sun protection crèmes have. I can’t really place the smell (I’ve never actually smelled a pomegranate) but “organic” and “citrus” are the first words that come to mind.

Like many of Mr. Murad’s products, this sunblock is expensivo. A small 1.7 oz. tube retails for 30 bucks. However, I consider it a worthwhile investment if you place a high priority on sun protection and I am surely buying a new tube when mine runs out!

Don’t Forget! – If you have skin, you should wear sunscreen – every day! Even if it’s a little bit of low SPF! There are so many cosmetic products that contain a decent amount of SPF that you really have no excuse! Just say no to wrinkles and the possibility of (gasp) skin cancer!

Stay beautiful!
