Lip Medex by Blistex

I used to be really afraid of Blistex.

For some reason, it always screamed ‘cold sore victim’ to me and cold sores really gross me out. Thank goodness I don’t suffer from those little guys and thank goodness I finally gave Blistex Lip Medex a try a few years ago.

This product is well worth the $3 price tag. In fact, you should go buy some now, if you don’t have some already :) Its technical name is an “external analgesic / lip protectant,’ but all you really need to know is that it will make your lips feel fresh and lightly moisturized.

Lip Medex contains menthol and camphor, so if you are allergic to either steer clear of this product. But, for the rest of us, these ingredients are what really make a difference and pep this lip balm up. The cooling, soothing and renewing effects of these two can be felt long after you apply.

A pale semi-opaque yellow in color, this balm has a very light consistency. This Blistex goes on clear and gives a very muted finish. A lot of guys I know use this balm, because it moisturizes so well without giving a lot of shine.

Blistex Lip Medex smells subtly sweet and minty, but I can’t smell it once it’s on my lips. As for flavoring, there isn’t much, only a sweet-ish taste that is quite mild (and, no, I don’t secretly eat my Blistex! I just lick my lips every now and again…)

I use Blistex as a base for almost all my lip glosses (even my not-so-secret love, Beauty Rush) and colors. It really helps my thicker glosses go on much more smoothly.

Helpful Hint – Every so often my lips conk out on me and sort of ‘fall out of balance’. They’ll dry out quickly and just not feel the “right”, no matter what I put on them. It’s times like these when a regimen of exfoliating my lips (check out the latest Beauty Tidbit for details) and routinely applying Blistex Lip Medex gets me back in sync.

This handy little blue tub fits in just about any pocket or handbag, so you really have no excuse to not give it a try.

Let me know what you guys think!
